The Castle Varech Sailing Vessel was registered to George Peter Mackay, John Macdonald and John Gordon who were designated Managing Owners. The vessel was first registered in 1909 in Kirkwall and then in Wick in 1911. Gross tonnage 40.03 Deductions - 7.03 Register tonnage - 34.07 The Gross tonnage was 40.03 less deductions of 7.03 giving a total usable 34.07 Tons.

It is noted in the Schooner register that George Peter Mackay, John Macdonald and John Gordon, all of Midtown, Talmine, were designated joint owners of the 64 shares.

The Certificate was cancelled and the Registry closed on the 3rd of November 1930. The Vessel was constructively lost at Tongue Island on October 1928 - This advice was received from registered owner.

This is all the information I have found on the Castle Varech so far, I wonder if it ever went Whaling? Does anyone out there have any further information on the vessel or even a Photo tucked away somewhere. If you can help with the story of the Castle Varech please Email me!
