Welcome:
This self contained flat is located above Talmine Post Office and Stores, with panoramic views over Talmine Bay and the Rabbit Islands. The property has its own private entrance at road level, and consists of one single, one twin bedded and one double bedroom, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and large dining room lounge. It is fully centrally heated and double-glazed with a solid fuel fire in the lounge. Parking is by the door, and the fully enclosed private garden is fitted with a washing line.
Talmine is a small crofting community at the mouth of the Kyle of Tongue. The area is suitable for hill walking, bird watching, fishing, flora or just getting away from it all in the peace and quiet of the countryside. We are a short walk from the nearest of many beautiful sandy beaches and coastal paths. Boat trips to the Islands can be arranged where a number of seals and seabirds can be seen at close proximity. Pony Trekking, swimming pool and fitness suite are all within easy reach of Talmine.
Electricity is charged at the going rate, which is 20p per unit used. There is no coin meter, instead, a reading is taken upon arrival and again on departure. Linen can be supplied at a charge of £3 per person, {sheets only} or £5 per person with sheets and towels. Cooking is by electricity, and the kitchen is fitted with a microwave, fridge, washing machine, tumble drier and deep freeze.
 Talmine Stores has a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, freshly frozen beef, lamb, pork, and chicken as well as general groceries, off license, and electronic top-up for your mobile. The post office offers a full range of banking services.
We are situated within easy reach of daytrips to Lochinver in the west and John O’Groats in the east. Some more ambitious guests have done the trip to Orkney, which means a fairly early start.

Getting there from the Information Centre Bettyhill:
From Bettyhill Tourist Information Centre travel west to Tongue on the A838, then across the Kyle of Tongue still on the A838 and turn right at the end of the causeway, you will find us 3 miles past the Talmine sign.
Rail connection
There is only one train which connects with Post Bus and that bus leaves Lairg Post Office at 9.30a.m.
Getting there by Aeroplane:
From Inverness Airport travel north on the A9 to Bonar Bridge then north on the A836 to Tongue. Continue on the A838 across the Kyle of Tongue. Turn right. We are 3 miles from the junction.
Getting There by Ferry:
By ferry from Scrabster, travel west to Tongue on the A838, then across the Kyle of Tongue still on the A838 and turn right at the end of the causeway, you will find us 3 miles past the Talmine sign.
By ferry from Gill's Bay, travel west to Thurso and then west to Tongue on the A838, then across the Kyle of Tongue still on the A838 and turn right at the end of the causeway, you will find us 3 miles past the Talmine sign.
Zebrugge - Rosyth Fife. Take the A9 north to Bonar Bridge; then left on the A836 Lairg to Tongue: From tongue take the A838 west over the Kyle of Tongue and turn right into Talmine, Melness where you will find us in 3 miles.
